So now I'm a model!
Recently I was nominated to be a breast cancer survivor model for MACY'S. Imagine that! Me...a model! I will be walking down a real runway with other real models.
Darn, I had lost all that weight and was down to a size 10 and then they put me on prednisone and I gained it all back. Oh well, such is a life of a model, always having to worry about their weight!I wonder if I get to keep the clothes?
This is the email that I received recently followed up with a phone call.
Dear Models!
We’re about four weeks away (May 14) from the Macy's Komen Diva’s and Dames Pink Ribbon Reception, and time to start doing our prep work. Oh, such is the life of a Super Model – work, work, work. J
The first order of business will be to fill out the attached Model Profile Sheet and return it with a full length photo of yourself. The first page of the Profile Sheet includes some helpful instructions to assist with scheduling, fittings, etc. As for the picture, almost everyone has a digital camera these days so I suspect that is the easiest way to submit a picture but if not and you prefer to fax or mail yours, please do so to the fax # or address below. Let me know via e-mail when you return your Profile Sheet how you will be submitting your picture (if it isn’t attached to your e-mail) so Sharon or I can follow-up on it. This picture will not be returned so please don’t send one you cannot part with. A candid photo will be perfect.
Please send this information to me by next Wednesday, April 8th. I will in turn get it to Sharon Biles who will coordinate your appointments with Beautique and Lenny for Macy’s from there. Sharon and/or someone from Beautique and Macy’s will be in touch with you about fitting times, hair and make-up appointments, etc. Sharon will be in touch with you but her e-mail is on the “cc” line above should you need to get in touch with her sabreproperties@yahoo.com

Awesome!
Wow! Way to go!
By the way, I found out today that this is just a major fundraiser for the Susan B. Koman foundation. I mean, I'm still going to do it and have fun, but they want me to sign up as a member for a minumum of $50.00.They even wanted me to become a member to participate. I just told them that I couldn't afford to do that.
I get one "free" guest pass and they want them to become a member to even come to view the show. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
I'm still going to go have fun, regardless. But I don't know if I'm going to be able to have any pictures taken as no one I know is going to this. Maybe the newspaper will have something. It will still be fun. I'm going to have to pay to get a pedicure and manicure done tomorrow. I needed that done anyway. And I have to pay to have my makeup done. Mo money, mo money.
It was a blast! I had so much fun! Yes, Nila, your grandmother was once a model. Macy's was nice enough to loan us the clothes to walk down the runway (as long as we didn't sit down in them and get them winkled) and no, I did not have any pictures taken, so all of this will have to be a "Kodak" moment in my mind. One cool thing that happened was that a Texan cheerleader was the one who did my hair! They have to have day jobs too! She was so sweet and even gave me an autographed picture. I had so much fun though. I gave my "princess" wave and nod as I s-t-r-o-l-l-e-d down the runway and then twirled at the end like Mary Tyler Moore at the end of the runway. On the way back, I stopped and acknowledged the audience by curtsying. I am truly a "wanna be" Queen Elizabeth! I was grinning from ear to ear. Definately a "Kodak" moment in life. The Galveston Daily news is going to do an article on it in Sunday's edition, but I don't think they got any "after" pictures either. Angie, you would have been proud of your mama. I had on bright colors and a long skirt and green sandals! And bright pink toes and nails! I felt fabulous! Way out of the box for me. To read the article Sunday just go to www.galvestondailynews.com
