About Me

I am a two time breast cancer survivor and now have a rare autoimmune disease that is slowly attacking my whole body. My one hope here is that "Happy" goes international before it's too late. I'm running out of time. I want my legacy in life that I helped make people happy!

Then, take a picture of him with you and send it (along with a description of where Happy went) to Melena1006ataoldotcom.

    945 - Wanna go for 1000?

There have been 945 readers of How Far will Happy Go. We're so close to 1000. Imagine, almost 1000 people have read about something happy. How cool is that! I know that it made you smile, if only for a moment. Do you think that if enough people tell others about the website that we can make "Happy" make it to 1000 by Monday? Wanna try?

    How to leave a post/comment

I guess that's it's a little confusing to leave a post on this blog. Actually, you have to leave a comment. It can be under anything that I write.Just look for the little "comment" right under the title on any of my stories and write whatever you want. It doesn't have to pertain to what I wrote. It can be whatever you would like to write about. And you have to register with Blogger.... I think. Angie will have to clarify this for me. It would be nice it you could leave you own headline and post, but at least your comment can have a headline and post and it will show up. So go ahead and write your happy story. It will be posted. Right now, I have to move away from the computer. It's early in the morning and my big Golden Retriever is lying next to me and she just passed wind and it is bringing tears to my eyes. Gotta go!

    Happy is going bizarre!

I read a story in today's paper where an elderly man had just made a withdraw from his bank and he tripped when he made it outside. Money went scattering everywhere in the wind and people started grabbing up money as quick as they could. He ended up getting 85% of his money back. Some comments were left that it was so nice to read some good news for once. It was also listed under bizarre news.

WHY BIZARRE??? Yes, this was a nice thing that people did for this man. But I bet you, that you could go to any city USA and find enough good news for the day that it would at least fill one sheet of any newspaper.Any day of the week, anywhere in the country. Why is that bizarre? Well, I've decided that Happy should go bizarre and spread as much bizarre news as we can. Maybe one of our bizarre stories will make a headline one day. What do you think? Are there any happy stories out there that can make the bizarre news of the day?

Oh, and Happy is having lunch with some of it's readers from the Houston Chronicle on Aug 9th, so I will be sure to post some pictures of "Happy" with some of his bizarre gang.

Oh and another thing...."How Far Will Happy Go" has now had 834 readers ranging from Japan, Russia, Romania, Nigera, Iceland, Argentina and all over the United States. I cried when I found out that it has spread so far. I have prayed so hard that "Happy" would spread all over the world and it is. I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart. I would love to hear from some of you and get some feedback on what you think of this website.

    I'm getting hungry for bloggers

If there are any readers in the Houston area, some of us are going to me
"Happy" on August 9th at Blackeyed Peas Restaurant on Bay Area Blvd in Webster, TX. You are all more than welcome to come and join us. The more the merrier.

How do I find all these pocket angel?

I introduced a friend of mine to another friend of mine who needed some work done on his truck and my one friend is a super mechanic, so my friend went over to help fix my friends truck. It's running great now. Well it turned out the the one friend who helped fix the truck needed an extra pair of hands to fix his RV. So my friend whose truck just got fixed, made arrangements to go over this next week to help my other friend with his RV. So the mechanic was so happy that he has someone to help him, he told me to come back to his shop and he would fix the trunk on my old car that wouldn't open. One of the hinges was completely rusted through, so my friend cut, welded and fabricated a new hinge and now my trunk opens. So here's how the pocket angel thing happened. I knew someone who needed help, who helped them, and then they need help, so my friend helped them and because I introduced the two of them, he helped me. So that's how pocket angels work. Everybody helps each other. Wouldn't it be nice if the whole world was like that. Helped each other out, just because they needed help and then pay it back or pay it forward, however you want to look at it. But for today, all three of us were happy campers! Spread some happiness around. It's easy. Just do it.
Has this every happened to you? Do you have any pocket angels? How did it happen>? Tell your story here.

I am a little old white trash lady who has it made in the shade!

It's official. Happy Birthday to me!!!!!! Well, maybe I should do some explaining Lucy. I lost my glasses Saturday night, AGAIN. So I called up my friend and ask him to look at his house to see if I left them there, and he didn't see them. Now,I had just lost them last week on Wednesday, because the pin came out, but I found all the parts and took them back to Sam's and they fixed them. So today I'm thinking great, it's my birthday and I don't have any glasses anymore. But the good part was I renewed my drivers license and my motorcycle license on Friday, so what the heck.I had the glasses when I really needed them to pass the test. I didn't really need glasses to see anymore, right? (By the way, the picture turned out great on my license!) So my friend from last night and I met for breakfast for my birthday this morning and we decided to swing by his house one more time to look for my glasses. They were there laying in the grass with one stem missing. So we went back to Sam's and they gave me a new pair of frames right then and there, so I can see again. Yeah! The rest of the world is safe because I can see them when I drive. Yes, I really did need the glasses, I was just kidding before. I'm as blind as a bat. So then my friend ask me what I would like for my birthday. I could have anything I wanted within reason. I'm thinking hmmmmm...I already have a Rollscanhardly. I have a new staple gun. Gee, what more do I really need? I'm blessed with so much! Then it dawned on me. I asked him again, "I can have anything???" He said sure within reason. So I led him to the store and then to the department that I really wanted something from. Actually NEEDED is the true statement. I got...ready???..... a super duper heavy duty trash can for outside. A Rubbermaid at that. A BIG one! So then I wanted to climb inside and have him push me around the store and then I could jump out in front of people and yell "Happy Birthday to me!" But my friend didn't think that would be a good idea.I couldn't understand why, it had new tread on the tires. AND since my Rollscanhardly doesn't have air conditioning in it, he got me one of those sunscreens for the windshield of the car. Then we pass the eyeglass place in Wally World and he stops in there and starts looking for something. Have you guessed what it is he's looking for yet? You know those straps that little old ladies wear around their glasses because they keep losing them. Well, now you have the whole story. I am officially a 53 year old, white trash, old lady, who has it made in the shade!!!! Happy Birthday to me!!
Oh and then in the evening, another friend of mine grilled the biggest T-Bone steak I've ever seen in TX yet. I think this thing still had it's horns on it. His sweet neighbor bake me a strawberry cake for my birthday and he gave me a beautiful candle set. AND,AND,AND....(I'm so excited I could almost pee my pants)...he gave me tools!!!!!!! A level and a pair of vices.Sigh... well I just can't describe it in any other words. It just makes you want to bring a tear to your eye, now doesn't it!
I am so blessed with friends and family that know me so well and love me so much.

My older son called just as I walked in the door tonight to wish me a "Happy Birthday" This was about 9:15. Last year both of my boys forgot my birthday so they KNEW they had better call this year or they were going to be in big doodoo. So as soon as my older son hung up at 9:30, less than 1-1/2 minutes later, my younger son's son (my 3 year old grandson) called to wish me a "Happy Birthday". Boy talk about covering each other butts! Brothers stick together. And my daughter sent me a Hallmark e-card because she had tried to call me earlier, that said she wanted to hear all about my birthday here on my website. So there you go folks, I'm a blessed, loved ,old, white trash, full, lady who has it made in the shade on her birthday.
Oh PS, even my MOM called me. My birthday really was a good one cause she never calls long distance! See, told you I'm loved. Even my mom said so. So did my brother. And to my sister, too late, you told me that you already sent me the card, it's in the mail. So I know that you love me too!
If I could have a wish, I wish that everyone could have at least one birthday in their lives where they had so much fun and felt so much love. Thank you all for a very, very happy day.

    Just tooling around

My birthday is tomorrow, so my son and his Uncle gave me a little bit of money to go shopping or do whatever I wanted to do with it. Oh I thought of a million things I could do. I could get my hair done, I could get a pedicure or a manicure. Or..my absolute favorite store to shop in is Lowe's Hardware Store. We're talking tools, baby, tools!!!! I get as excited about a new tool as most women do over a new pair of shoes.
So getting back to my garden that I made a few weeks back, and the little white picket fence, some of the pieces of the little fence needed to be stapled together to get them to fit perfectly. So I got a super duper heavy duty stapler. I mean this baby will staple anything. There are so many projects that I'm going to be able to use this stapler on. I can even build a new custom headboard now. I can reupholster some furniture. I can make picture frames. Wow. The list is endless! A new tool!
A few years ago I went on vacation to see my sister in NC and found a sale on a cordless drill that was just too good to pass up, so that was the only souvenir that I bought on my vacation and she had to ship it back to me. I'm always working on projects around the house, and you gotta have tools! Guys know this. That's why they always get the cool tools for presents and we women get a blender. Well, I have to do all the projects myself, so I'm happy when I get tools. I'm way past the point of thinking duct tape can fix anything.
Oh, and I also found a great sale on those new florescent bulbs, so now I can change every single one of the light bulbs in my house to save energy and they are better for the environment. Those bulbs also last a really long long time! So now I'm happy. I got a new tool. Saved the environment. What more could you ask for in life to be happy?

Some of the happiest moments of my life

Okay, now that I'm finally plugged in to high speed internt (I'm really telling my old age when I'm excited about that!)I thought I'd share some of the happiest times in my life. These are the things that make life so happy. Playing with my grandson, That's amore',Hugging my Mom, my brother, my hero, rode his bike to TX from OH to see me, holding my granddaughter for the first time. These are the "Happy" moments of life that I thought I'd share with you.

    July 6: Can we talk?

"Happy" has been around for a few months now and according to the site meter, there have been over 600 people read this site and on a daily basis about 28 visits! HAPPY HAS BEEN BUSY! But I'm curious to know who are all these 600 people?

How did you find www.howfarwillhappygo.com? What makes you happy?

Spread a little happiness around by leaving a comment about something happy happening in your life! It makes the next person who reads it feel good and then they will write something, then that makes someone else happy and then THEY will write something and the happiness will never end!

Some of my friends from the original "Happy" blog in the Houston Chronicle are planning on getting together for lunch to meet because we all have one thing in common: We are all happy people and we don't mind admitting to it! Take some time to admit to yourselves and others that the world is not ALL bad - happiness is everywhere, and you can find some here!

Being happy is a good thing. We all do not have perfect lives, far from it, but we are happy with what we have. So watch the video, read the posts. Print out Happy and take him on an adventure with you! But most of all, I pray the most, be Happy!

    July 5: Pocket Angels

I have about 6 pocket angels. They are the people that I know I can reach into my pocket, and there will be a name of someone who will be there for me. They are friends that I know that love me and do everything in their power to help me.

I was without a car for two years, and for those two years, I had one pocket angel who took me to every appt. at MD Anderson, sometimes even having to take off of work to do so. Or if she couldn't make it, another would loan me her brand new vehicle to use. I've had pocket angels who came over to help me paint my bedroom. Pocket angels who will come over and help me change a flat tire or even change a light bulb for me. Loan me tools, help me dig my garden.

I wish that I could just go on and on about my pocket angels. I have pocket angels who call and say "You've been sitting at home for too long, we're coming over to get you to go to the club," so I can see the rest of my friends or take me to a movie. I've had pocket angels come over and grill steaks for me when I was too tired to cook! I can't express in words how much I love these pocket angels. I don't know what I did to deserve them. All I can say is that it is pure love and I feel very, very blessed.

Do you have pocket angels in your life who make you happy?

July 4: Happy is out and about!

Check out today's comments for some of the happiness left at my Houston Chronicle blog.

I believe that the media has us brainwashed. I don't when it started happening, but we are led to believe that the world is mad. Most people's lives are at least 80% happy everyday, but no one hears about it! It's like its something no one in allowed to talk about except in a whisper. But THAT'S NOT NORMAL! The 80% of people's real life is what's normal. That's what we should be hearing about. Bad news should be the abnormal.

Help Happy become normal again - leave a comment about something happy in your life!

July 3: Happy is playing games in Columbus, OH

    Hi mom!

Happy came to our game night last night, and played “GO FOR IT!” an old Parkers Brothers game from the 60’s! He had a great time but alas, he did not win the game!

    Love,

    Angie
