June 24: Out of the cave

I haven't blogged in a while, because I have so busy that I've been staying up till 5AM. I got high speed internet now and it's like a whole new world opening up to me. I have to shield my eyes from the sunshine that high speed internet has.

I've got to watch videos of my granddaugter that I could never do with dial-up. There are so many new things that I can see and do that I'm addicted to it now. I heard a funny noise the other day and I couldn't figure out what it was. I finally figured out that it was my phone ringing. I never heard that before because my phone was always hooked up to my dial-up. It was weird! Ohhhh that's what that noise is???!!!

I've been working very hard to make a video of "Happy" and I have no idea how to do this. So I've been trying to do this and I have to keep doing it over and over trying to get it right. I found an old cam for my computer and a headset and mic in a box in the garage and it works on my laptop! That's pretty cool.

See, I only have pictures of "Happy" that I have to convert into a video. So I took the cam and made a little video of the three pictures that I have. So far so good. It's a start of a video. Then I figured out how to add a storyline to "Happy" to the video. Now I'm rocking and rolling. So I'm working day and night to make a video of "Happy" that I can put on YouTube. Plus the rest of the time, I'm playing with high speed internet. Gosh, How did I ever live without this?

Does having the internet make you happy? How?

June 17: Has Happy reached you yet?

If Happy has reached you, leave a comment to let me know how? How did Happy find you or how did you find it?

Happy Father's and Non Father's day to the past, present and future

Today we celebrate fathers. Not the sperm donors, but the fathers. No offense to those who are trying to have children that need a sperm donor. Fathers that have passed away, but we remember them like it was yesterday, that they were tickling you, or teaching you how to ride a bike, or carried you on their shoulders and the world looked huge from way up there. They are still part of our lives. They are still to be celebrated. To the non-fathers. The men that fell in love and got a package deal and love those children as much as if he had given birth to them himself. And he has to share that love with the "real" father. If done right, the children are the ones that benefit the most from this. They have TWO men in their lives that would gladly give up their own to save one of them. To the dads, that no matter how stern you want to be, your child looks at you in a certain way, and your heart melts. And you know who you are, because you know when it happens. To the fathers who are going through some tough times with their child, but you keep holding on, because you love them so much, that you would do anything to protect them. Even if that means nailing the windows shut. LOL. To the non-fathers who get to pass a football back and forth or sit down with a four year old and have a cup of tea. Or works 10 hours a day until he's bone tired, just to provide for mine, yours and ours. You're a family and sometimes you get stuck on the sidelines to the "real" dad.
To the real dads whose whole day is made when he walks in through the front door and has a herd of children rushing at him saying "Daddy's home! Daddy's home!" That feeling is what it's all about.
To the new about-to-be dads. Who just found out that it's going to be a girl. Now you have to go out and buy a baseball bat to keep the boys away from her. She's going to be "daddy's little girl" no matter how old she gets. To the dads who just found out that the adoption is going to go through and you get to bring your son home. Your child who will depend on you for everything. You are a special Dad, picked out by God, just for this child. To the father of a child with a disability. Again, God picked you out as that childs angel. Don't ever forget that.
To all of you, past, present, and future, Happy Father's Day! Take lots of pictures today. It's your day.

And away we go! Technorati Profile

    I hope this reaches someone

    I'm sorry, I didn't hear about that

I write about something good that happens, and then you write about something good. I've had a few people who have written something, but most of them have been family or friends. I'm so sorry that I haven't heard about your good news. I promise that I will listen and make sure that it gets posted.
My goal here is to make sure that "Happy" makes it as far as it possibly can, while I can still do this. I'm running out of time. So I would love to hear from you. Please help me spread just a little bit of "Happy" around. The world needs to hear about it.

    My little flower garden

I'm not supposed to be doing things like this due to doctor's orders, BUT I wanted a little flower garden in front of my house. There's a little 3' X 4' area that is just perfect for a garden. And I wanted daisies to prove to people that I was planting daisies and not pushing them up yet.
So I now have a beautiful little garden with daisies, petunias, an urn with a beautiful plant in it, mulch and a little white picket fence that goes around it and I also put the little white fence around my sidewalk leading up to my front door. As soon as I can get the pictures developed, I'll post them on here.
I'm so proud of my little garden. I fell while I was doing this and couldn't get up, so I crawled on the sidewalk to inside my house to my walker. I guess that's why my doctor says don't do things like that. DUH!
But I have a little garden. I finally planted roots. It changed the whole personality of how my house looks. I usually kill any plant I try to grow, but I have discovered Miracle Grow! It will make anything grow. So I made sure that each little plant had a dose of Miracle Grow in it.
It was hard to do, but I have a garden now! Isn't that wonderful. I did it!!!!!!

    Hanging around Houston

There was a couple of people who found ""Happy" in the Houston Chronicle under my Houaton Chronicile "How Far Will Happy Go? blogs.
Wait till you read about their "happy" days! It was great.
Sorry, this is one of those headlines you read about some tragedy that you see on TV or the media. This is news that will make you smile and laugh. So "Happy" here's how "happy" made it a little farther today. I wonder who else was being with "Happy"? I don't know unless you write and tell me or if you find "Happy" somewhere. So here's a copy of that blog:

    I'm sorry, I didn't hear about that

Well, I havent heard any good news from anyone is a while. I don't understand why. Did I miss it? Was I too busy that day to stop and listen to your good news? If so, I'm so sorry. I really want to hear about your good news. I promise that I'll listen and enjoy it. I would much rather read about your good news or happy times than the junk that is on TV or the media. I NEED a dose of good news.

Hi, Mobea: I got your "bumper sticker" over at myspace, but couldn't figure out how to put it on my home page. I guess by now you've figured out I'm not doing much with my "myspace" space. LOL!

Husband and I had our first "kid free" night Saturday. So, we spent our quality time together hanging siding on the house. Uh....... LOL! But, we also stayed up and watched a lot of recorded Crossing Jordan and a little of Silence of the Lambs. Not very positive movies, I know, but the fact we actually got to watch some "grown up" TV is good news, in and of itself! We could have planned a date, but we were already so involved in our home improvement projects. At least we got some uninterrupted time to work on them a bit more. The kids benefitted from their slumber parties, too. So far, they haven't had time for the summertime "I'm bored" attitude to set in!

I also had a chance to do some shoe shopping for myself on Saturday. My foot is really hard to fit. I have to have a wide width, and I've found they aren't always easy to find. I've been compromising a bit too much on the shoes that I wear. I bought some Naturalizers and SAS shoes Saturday. I've been wearing the more casual Naturalizers, and I tell you, the difference in my overall energy level and feeling of well being is amazing! I really had no idea that my energy was being so sapped by the shoes I've been wearing!

Honestly, I think my foot is somewhere between a wide and a WW! WW would be too much, though, and the wide will work. I can't believe I've been squeezing my foot into a regular width all this time!

So, that's my good news! I found some decent shoes! LOL! Trust me, that really is good news! My body is thanking me for it!

Just about the time that I find a pair of shoes that I swear I could just wear them until I die, I find out that their bad for my feet. Flip flops. I could live in them. I have wide feet too. I didn't know that they even sold WW shoes. I walk into a department store and ask for a size 8-1/2 W and they look at me like I'm bigfoot!
Ahhh, a quiet relaxing time at home with hubby. Just the two of you. Kind of reminds you of why you married each other. And it gives you grown up time with each other. When my kids were little I use to have a neighbor that once a month we would trade kids once a month. It was great! It helped them and it helped us. It was fun having a whole houseful of kids and then when it was our time, it was great when it was our time. I'm glad that you had a wondeful time. See, that's the kind of news that never makes it the front page, but boy, does it make you happy when you get to hear about good times. Thanks for sharing. I let you know more about "Happy" in a couple of weeks about what to do with it. I'm stil working on the details. But its pretty cool.

Hi all. My wife and I had a wonderful time last Saturday. We got to goof off and went out and bought a whole bunch of leftover bread and went out to the park next to Armand Bayou Nature Center (can't recall the name of the park) where we fed the geese and ducks bread. Since we got there late (around noon) they were really not that hungry and were just picking at the food.

So we jumped into the car and went to the Texas City Dike and hit the beach out there around the 3 1/2 mile marker. We gave some of the kids loaves of bread and watched them feed the seagulls. We then got Gwen's walker out (the fancy kind with a seat and four wheels) and went walking along the water. Gwen was sitting there on the seat just dabbling her feet in the water with a few waves coming up and washing over our feet. Just checking out the hermit crabs and the different shells they were using for homes and enjoying the company.

All of the sudden, this huge wave comes surging up the beach and went clear up to the picnic tables up by the road...... lol. It was water that was pushed up by a tanker travelling out to the Gulf. Gwen got her denim dress soaked up to her knees and I got my jeans soaked up to mid calf. Shock turned to surprise turned to laughter as the huge wave receded down the beach. We had parked the Crown Vic on the beach and luckily the water only swirled around the wheels. People were scrambling to back their cars up and keep them from getting swamped.

We finally extricated Gwen's walker from the sand as it had sunk down by the wave action and plodded back to the car. After backing the car up to make sure it wouldn't get stuck, we loaded ourselves back up and cruised over to where the wind surfers were having a blast riding the wind and waves.

On the way home we stopped and had the car washed and detailed to keep the salt and sand from attacking the integrity of the finish. Overall, a very nice and happy day for both of us. One that I really enjoy and will treasure in my memory.

    Just thought I would share.

Tim, that sounds like such a wonderful afternoon. Seeing as I live in Texas City, I have been to the dike and "been there done that" But we were in a 4X4 truck that the water actually came all the way up in the truck. Hopefully they are going to pave the road again this year again. Next year, they are talking about charging to get onto the dike. But I love going there. I only live 9 blocks from the dike so I guess that it's one of the things that I take advantage of a lot. I've spent many mornings getting up early, just to watch the sunrise there. It's breath taking. I just want to stand up and applaud God. Yep, you guys had a "Kodak" moment in life. "Happy" was there with you!

    Happy is in Boston

Heard this on "Good Morning America" this morning and it just blew me away!
Once upon a time there was a guy named Tommy DeCarlo, 43, in Charlotte, NC who sang karaoke. He specialized in singing the group "Boston"songs. He was singing karaoke because he had to sell his own keyboard one year to buy Christmas presents for his family one year. His daughter thought that he was so good that she posted him singing on MySpace.
In the meantime, the real Boston group founder Tom Schotz's, wife was listening to music on the computer one day and Tom said that something about it was good to hear them playing their music, but he was still mourning the loss of the lead singer Brad Depp ,who had committed suicide in 2007. But the more he listened to it, the more he realized it wasn't the band playing. It was actually someone singing karaoke. It just blew his mind how much this guy sounded like Brad.
So he contacted Tommy, in NC, and now Tommy is touring with Boston. And Yamaha is giving him a new keyboard. You can read the full interview here
    http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/story?id=4971065&page=1
So many things had to have happpened for this happy ending to even begin.
    1. Toomy DeCarlo is one talented guy
2., His daughter thought so too and made the effort to put it on MySpace,
    3. Schotz's wife had to be listening to music on the computer at that particular time when her husband was in the room,
    4. they had to be playing a Boston song,
    6. Schotz listened over and over and realized it was someone signing karaoke and found out who it was and contacted him.
    5. Happiness found this guy.
It just never ceases to amaze me the way how happy does that. It always finds a way!
